Out of 100 boudoir websites surveyed, nearly all of them talked about empowering all women, yet only 30% of those websites showcased visibly fat bodies. Out of those 30 websites, only 15 showed more than FIVE plus sized women on their sites. Upon looking further, many other marginalized bodies were also missing from the majority of websites and this included color, abilities, age, and those with visible markings. While this isn’t mandatory for photographers to include these things in their work, at everyBODIES we are striving to let the world know that every BODY is worthy of being photographed.
everyBODIES strives to empower photographers who can go forward to empower their clients. It is not as simple as SAYING we empower our clients, but rather SHOWING. Therefore we have created the Advocates for Body Diversity pledge. By taking this pledge you will be recognized and featured in our online database as a photographer who strives to provide an amazing experience for all clients. In addition, you will be provided with a badge and mini-pledge to put on your website AND social media so your clients can be made aware that you will provide them an amazing, non-judgemental, empowering boudoir experience. Please read below to see the submission requirements.
These are the requirements you need to meet in order to be eligible to take the pledge and become an Advocate for Body Diversity.
*30% of your website must showcase a variety of marginalized bodies*
*Every 9 images on instagram must feature at least 1 marginalized body *Marginalized bodies include (but not limited to):
People of color
People with disabilities
Bodies with visible markings (acne, stretchmarks, cellulite, scars, birthmarks, skin conditions, etc.)
Upon receiving your ABD Pledge Badge you will be added to our Advocates for Body Diversity Directory.
Every Friday we look at the submissions and will send an email regardless of the outcome! Should we find you do not meet the requirements, we will be certain to send you tips on how you can improve the Body Diversity on your web presence.
By registering for your ABD badge, you are promising to uphold these requirements and upon no longer doing so, your badge will be revoked alongside your directory listing.
